Macular disease
Macular disease is a condition that causes partial blindness. It is named after the ‘macular,’ a part of the retina at the back of the eye.
Vision may become blurry or dark; in some cases, it may cause differences in colour perception. The disease affects your central vision, colour vision, and perception of fine detail. Although Macular Disease is often age-related (AMD), it can affect people of all ages. There are many forms of the disease with unique symptoms and circumstances. Macular Society has a selection of personal stories, information about the disease, information on diagnosis, and articles on the development of a cure.
The society has a membership scheme and a helpline for patients seeking advice and support through their diagnosis.
