Diabetes

Diabetes Diabetes is when a person’s blood sugar levels become too high because their body can’t effectively produce the hormone insulin. Diabetes cannot be cured, but medicines and management plans can put you into remission. There are two main types of diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2, and a third type that affects only pregnant women, known as Gestational Diabetes. You may also be diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes if your blood sugar is high. While Type 2 diabetes can be managed with lifestyle changes like healthy eating and exercise, Type 1 cannot. The resources in this section can provide information and guidance for those wanting to live well with diabetes. There is also a Surrey-based support group for anyone seeking companionship with other diabetics.
