Support for new parents

Two sets of hands make a love heart around the feet of a newborn baby.

Becoming a parent for the first time is a big deal. Navigating your new role is a learning process that we should not always expect to ‘come naturally.’ Accessing support is vital because parenthood looks different for everyone:

- Partners might be nervous or confused about how to help a recovering mother with a newborn.

- Some parents, especially mothers, may suffer from postnatal depression.

- Some might be making the journey alone as a single parent.

- Adoptive parents may be navigating unique issues with helping a child to adjust from being in the care system.

- Some parents might sadly suffer from infant loss.

- Parents need advice and support to guide them through the many complications of raising a child or teen for the first time. The resources in this section can provide information and advice to support your journey into parenthood.
