“My mum is a nurse, and I spent a lot of time going to work with her when I was younger. She’s always had a passion and love for her patients – they admired her, I admire her. If I wrote a piece of work in primary school, it was always ‘I’m going to be a nurse.’

“It’s 34 years since I qualified as a nurse. I was due to semi-retire in December 2020, but I decided to return to the frontline to support the fight against COVID-19."
“My job is unique: I arrive to work in my three-piece suit, but tend to go home in overalls having had to resolve an issue with our ageing buildings, from fixing our underground piping system to issues on the roof – you never know what challenge you might face."
“After graduating from medical school in India last year, I packed a month’s worth of clothes and caught a flight to England in the hopes that I might find a job here in the UK. I landed at Heathrow in February 2020 and began my first job as a Junior Doctor in the midst of the pandemic."
Nursing ran in my family, and I knew it was what I wanted to do from a young age. I wanted to make an instant difference, and in nursing you know that every day you make a difference to someone’s life.
