Our buying process

Buying decisions follow a basic principle which is to ensure that the right suppliers are delivering the right requirements at the right price. This is achieved through the application of supplier selection processes that increase in complexity based on the value of the contract.

The selection processes we follow are:

  • Contracts up to £5,000: one or more quotation(s) required
  • Contracts between £5,000 and £20,000: three or more written quotations are received and evaluated
  • Contracts between £20,001 and £113,057: three to five tenders are received and evaluated
  • Contracts above £113,057: an OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union)  tender process is required.

Note that the above values refer to the life-time values, not annual, of a procurement initiative.
