Welcome to our New Year’s new arrivals
This New Year was a double celebration for a number of local families, as Epsom and St Helier hospitals welcomed nine new babies to the world.
First to arrive was Ronnie Butler Khangrang, who was delivered in the Birth Centre at Epsom Hospital at 2.14am weighing 3.33kg. Over at St Helier Hospital, Maggie Bea Bradwell was the first New Year delivery, arriving in the world at 6.54am and weighing 3.2kg.
Ronnie and Maggie were swiftly followed by five more babies at St Helier and two babies at Epsom – bringing the grand total to nine New Year babies.
One of the lead midwives at Epsom, Mairead Faughnan, said: “Christmas and New Year is a special time for many people anyway, but to have a baby delivered during the festivities is sure to make it all the more extraordinary. We would like to congratulate all of the new families who had babies over Christmas and New Year, and offer the warmest of welcomes to their new arrivals.”
Chief Nurse Charlotte Hall said: “Each and every birth is an incredibly special and unique experience for new parents, and so it’s absolutely vital that our team of expert midwives are on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I’m pleased that we were able to welcome nine new babies to the world on New Year’s Day and wish them all the very best for the future – what a way to start 2016!”
