Sowing the seeds: Hospital staff delighted with super sunflowers
Sunflowers planted by staff in the Cardiac Rehabilitation team at Epsom Hospital are growing beyond all expectation – much to the delight of patients, visitors and staff.
Having received the super seeds at the Staff Health and Wellbeing Day in January and planted them soon after, Mary Evans (Clinical Nurse Specialist), Angela Sweet (Senior Physiotherapist) and Mirella Lepore (Administrative Assistant) have nurtured the flowers to impressive heights.
Mary said: “Giving out seeds as gifts at the Health and Wellbeing Day was a great idea. We’ve really enjoyed planting and looking after the flowers as a team, as well as the healthy competition (my sunflowers are the tallest!). The flowers have grown much better than we expected, and they really helped to brighten up block J, where Cardiac Rehabilitation is located, bringing a smile to the faces of patients and staff alike.
“We are looking forward to the Health and Wellbeing Days next year and getting some more seeds – Hampton Court Flower Show beware!”
