Exemplary service: Long serving porters receive Award of Excellence from Chief Executive
Two members of the portering team at Sutton Hospital have been recognised by their colleagues for their dedication and high quality of work.
Brian Parvia and Michael Stone, who have given a combined total of 51 years’ service to the trust, were nominated by no less than six of their colleagues at Sutton Hospital, which led to them being chosen as the recipients of the Chief Executive’s Award of Excellence.
Brian who has worked at Sutton Hospital for 15 years, was nominated for “extreme dedication” to his role, and was described by his colleagues as “a real asset to the trust”. Michael has been part of the team at the hospital for some 36 years, and was recognised for “not only his length of service, but quality of service”. The nominations from their colleagues at Sutton Hospital were particularly fitting as they said goodbye to both Brian and Michael, who have now transferred over to the portering team at St Helier Hospital.
Other highlights from the nominations they received included: “Brian and Michael have worked tirelessly at Sutton Hospital, supporting patients, visitors and staff for a long time. Both of them have provided friendly, helpful and caring service to members of staff and patients for many years. They have shown extreme dedication and often go above and beyond the call of duty to support our service.”
Chief Executive, Daniel Elkeles, said: “It was my pleasure to present the monthly Award of Excellence to Brian and Michael. I always enjoy reading what people have to say about the colleagues they nominate, and both Brian and Michael received some incredibly high praise from their colleagues, who wanted them to be recognised for their exemplary commitment and for the great work they have done over the years.
“Michael and Brian are much valued members of the portering team, and I have no doubt they will continue their stellar work at St Helier. My congratulations again to both of them for this thoroughly deserved recognition”.
