Epsom and St Helier announces new Trust leadership team

A new senior leadership team has been announced to lead for Epsom and St Helier from 1 February 2022.

The announcement follows the creation of the new executive team to lead St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Group.

The new Trust leadership team will be:

  • James Blythe, Managing Director. James is currently Collaboration Director across both St George’s and Epsom and St Helier
  • Dr Ruth Charlton, Chief Medical Officer. Ruth is currently Deputy Chief Executive and Joint Medical Director at Epsom and St Helier
  • Alex Shaw, Chief Operating Officer. Alex has joined the Trust as our Chief Operating Officer, reporting to James Blythe
  • Betty Njuguna, Chief Nursing Officer. Betty is our newly appointed Chief Nusing Officer at Epsom and St Helier
  • Saskia de Vries continues as Acting Director of People at Epsom and St Helier, now reporting to James Blythe
  • Lizzy Alabaster, Deputy Chief Financial Officer.  Lizzy continues as Deputy Chief Financial Officer at Epsom and St Helier, now reporting to Andrew Grimshaw as Group Chief Financial Officer
  • Trevor Fitzgerald continues as Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Projects, now reporting to James Blythe

Epsom and St Helier and St Georges remain two separate Trusts, but with one executive team enabling us to work closer together and build on our strong foundations.

The Epsom and St Helier senior leadership team will be responsible for the operational management of Epsom and St Helier Hospitals and continuing development of the Building Your Future Hospitals scheme and other strategic priorities for the Trust.

The two organisations remain committed to the strong partnerships built with local health and care systems in Merton, Wandsworth, Surrey and Sutton and wider strategic partnerships with Integrated Care Systems in South West London and Surrey Heartlands.

They will collaborate more closely on research, staff development, education and training, which will continue to make a vital contribution to the quality and sustainability of clinical care into the future.
