Don’t miss #TeamESTH’s maternity feature on Loose Women
Epsom Hospital’s maternity team will feature on ITV’s Loose Women this Friday (22 December) for a behind-the-scenes look at a career in midwifery.
The programme’s “Life if not Loose” feature looks at what different Loose Women’s ideal jobs would be if they were not on the show. With Nadia Sawalha and Judi Love both dreaming of being midwives, we invited them in for the day to give them a sneak peek.
Nadia and Judi shadowed Epsom Hospital midwives Andrea Halvey and Anne Okonkwo, seeing first-hand what the job is like and hearing from the team about their career journeys.
Nadia and Judi were emotional as they witnessed our teams perform a c-section, watching as mum, Kizzy Tullett, and her partner, Chloe, welcomed their baby boy, Rupert, into the world.
The Loose Women then popped upstairs to Epsom Hospital’s postnatal ward and spoke to new mum Abbi Walker, who had just welcomed baby Ayla into the world.
Andrea Halvey, who has been a midwife for 17 years, said: “We were so excited to meet the Loose Women and for them to come to our maternity unit.
“They were quite emotional during the filming, which just showed and reminded me what a wonderful experience it is to be present during a birth.”
Anne Okonkwo said: “Having the Loose Women in for the day brought a joyful energy and we were busy so it drove us for the rest of the shift. They are welcome any time.”
A huge thank you to the Epsom maternity team for opening its doors to the team.
Tune in to ITV1 on Friday from 12.30 pm, or watch again via ITVX.
