Chief Executive Daniel Elkeles

All aboard for the first ESTH Board meeting of the decade

If you would like to find out more about your local hospitals and community services, hear about recent performance and developments, or put a question to the Executive Directors of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, why not come to the very first Board Meeting of 2020?

All patients and local people are invited to the Board Meeting, which is taking place on Friday 10 January at 9.30am – 12pm in Conference Room 1 at Epsom Hospital.

Chief Executive Daniel Elkeles said: “Our Board Meetings held in public are great opportunities for local people to come and find out more about what we do. The meeting will feature information about our recent performance, including our latest figures for key waiting time standards (such as how long patients are waiting to be seen in A&E and for cancer care), and it gives local people the chance to put their questions to our Executive and Non-Executive Directors (although these need to be submitted in writing before the meeting). I’m also pleased to say that we will be joined by a former patient of our hospitals who will be giving their feedback about the care we provided.

“Joining one of our Board Meetings is a great way to see what goes on behind the scenes at ESTH, and to learn more about the great work our teams do – everyone is warmly welcome to join us.”

There is also an opportunity to put questions to our Executive and Non-Executive Directors. If you would like to ask the Board a question, you need to submit it in writing to esth.boardquestions@nhs.net by 9am on Wednesday 8 January. Questions submitted within the timescale will be read out at the end of the Public Board Meeting.

If you are unable to attend January’s meeting, but would like to attend one in the future, dates are as follows:

  • Friday 1 May, 9.30am – 12pm, Conference Room One, Epsom Hospital.
  • Friday 12 June, 9.30am – 10.30am, Whitehall Lecture Theatre, St Helier Hospital (this is an extraordinary Board to present the accounts)
  • Friday 10 July, 9.30am – 12pm, Whitehall Lecture Theatre, St Helier Hospital
  • Friday 11 September, 9.30am – 12pm, Conference Room One, Epsom Hospital
  • Friday 13 November, 9.30am – 12pm, Whitehall Lecture Theatre, St Helier Hospital
  • Friday 8 January 2021, 9.30am – 12pm, Conference Room One, Epsom Hospital.

Please be aware that all public board meetings will be filmed and that this footage, including the questions asked, will be made available on the Trust's website. Our filming will continue to be strategically arranged so the camera is fixed on members of the Trust Board and not on any members of the public. You can see examples of this (and previous meetings) on our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/EpsomStHelierNHS).
